A neighborhood pub in Manhasset, Long Island, becomes a second home for a fatherless boy, whose father disappeared from his life before he was old enough to speak. Under the unconventional tutelage of his Uncle Charlie and a handful of the bar’s colorful regulars, J.R. grows into a young man who attends Yale determined to fulfill his dream of becoming a writer.
Colorado Yalies and a guest are invited to a free screening of the The Tender Bar, the new film directed by George Clooney and starring Ben Affleck and Tye Sheridan based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Pulitzer-Prize-winning author and one-time Denver resident J. R. Moehringer ’86. The film opens in theaters on December 17th and is available on Amazon Prime January 7th.
RSVP for passes to attend the special screening at the Alamo Draft House Sloans Lake, 4255 West Colfax, Denver, on Monday, December 20th, starting at 6:30 pm (doors open at 5:00 pm). At 8:15 pm, there will be a discussion of the film for Yalies with Lisa Kennedy ’84, film critic for Variety, the New York Times, and formerly the Denver Post. Yale Alumni will have a section of saved seats until 6:15. The first 50 RSVPs will receive a complimentary beer to enjoy during the discussion at the Alamo Drafthouse’s BarFly. It’s encouraged to wear your Yale pride.
