Colorado Yalies will be treated to a private tour of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on March 13th at 5:30 pm hosted by Objects Conservator Casey Mallinckrodt ’88 MFA, Megan Salas ’13, and Katy Kaspari. Head conservator, Casey came to Denver after working at the Wadsworth Atheneaum in Hartford and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. She has experience with wide range of materials from contemporary chocolate sculpture to Ancient Egyptian painted coffins, with in-depth work on collections of Native American material culture and the arts of Central and West Africa, and South Africa. Falling in love with cultural heritage conservation during her studies at Yale, Megan came to DMNS to work on evaluating the condition of items from the Anthropology Department’s Northwest Coast Collection. Her colleague in this project, Katy Kaspari, will join us.
Those interested in gathering after the tour can head to Cerebral Brewing, 1477 Monroe Street, Denver
The event is cosponsored by the Rocky Mountain chapter of Yale Blue Green, the alumni shared-interest group for those interested in environmentalism and sustainability. Thanks to Kerry Rippy ’12 for organizing the event and for spearheading the establishment of a YBG chapter. If you’d like to get involved with YBG, email her: krippy211@gmail.com
The tour is free, and guests (children above elementary school) are welcome. There is a cap of 25. So please RSVP to Kerry.
